Kieron Dyer is in "intensive training" in a bid to prove his World Cup fitness, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett.

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson ruled Dyer out of his plans "almost for sure" on Sunday.

But Barnett insists his client has not entirely given up hope of making it on to the plane for South Korea and Japan.

He told Sky Sports News: "Kieron is trying his utmost to get fit for the World Cup.

"He said it's a little bit better than Sunday, he's going to have some intensive training and put his whole heart and soul into it, and if anybody can do it, he can.

"Sven has given Kieron until the end of this week, and I'm sure Kieron will do his utmost to go to the World Cup but he won't if he's not 100 per cent certain he will be fit to play.

"Kieron is very upset with life at the moment but he is a very determined young man and we need a great deal of work with him to get him right.

"He was crying on Sunday, he was devastated, it's everyone's ambition to go to the World Cup."

Barnett earlier say in the Daily Express that he and Dyer were considering suing Tahar El Khalej and maybe his club Southampton for the tackle which put his England place in doubt.

They don't usually sue unless it has ruined someones career, Dennis Irwin didn't sue the player who put in one of the worst ever tackles in Man Utd's champions league game.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
