Dyer saw his dream trip to Japan and South Korea this summer shattered by Tahar El Khalej during the defeat at Southampton.
"We have considered legal action, certainly against the player and possibly his club," said Dyer's agent Jonathan Barnett.
"We would like to take some action, but we shall have to be advised by the lawyers on how to quantify the damage.
"There is no doubt a player of Kieron's standing would lose out on sponsorship endorsements that might not be realised for another four years.
"A successful World Cup might have inspired a big bid from a top European club," he says in the Daily Express.
Yes, it was a bad tackle, but what can you sue him for??
His knee ligaments may now be well and truly fudged, but you can't really sue another player for costing you your World Cup place with a challenge that had a 50/50 chance of him getting the ball.
And why should Dyer be so bothered about getting the money anyway???
He must be on roughly £40k a week if he's at Newcastle!
But i couldn't claim when I dislocated my arm in a sunday league match - even the FA (which have a benevolent fund) said no, as do the claims direct people every time I walk down the high street.
Perhaps if he used a no win no fee lawyer he still could end up losing money
I appreciate that Dyer was said to be 'Inconsolable' after being told he wouldn't be going to Japan, but I am afraid tackles are part and parcel of the game.
Football isn't a non contact sport and I hope they forget about legal action. I am not saying that it was a fair tackle, far from it, but Dyer was apparently given the option of sitting the match out but chose to play.
He could have just as easily landed wrongly and pulled something. Would he had sued the groundsman then?
You play Football, you are going to get injured. It is as simple as that.
