So far on Gamecube we have a launch with no Mario! Instead it is Luigi his brother taking up launch duties. We are also going to see Metroid come back to life after many fans disappointment that it wasn't reincarnated in 3D on the N64, and Wave Race already has a GC update. And we'll get to see a Ninty character take his first steps into his own console game. After years of starring in Game Boy games, Wario is going to appear in his very own home console game! We will also see plenty of games on Gamecube that got an appearance on the N64. An updated F-Zero, a new Starfox game, Mario Kart, 1080 snowboarding 2, the obligatory Mario and Zelda updates and it's very likely Rare will weave some magic with a new Donkey Kong game before too long as well. What else? New Mario Tennis and Golf, probably a new Mario Party before too long (and could have vast amounts of sub games considering the size of a GC disk), and hopefully we'll see some more suprises, maybe a pseudo sequel to Paper Mario.

And on top of this we have Super Smash Bros. Melee, the game that is said to be a celebration of all things Nintendo, using some of its most popular franchise characters, along with 100s of trophies depicting Nintendo characters old and new to collect, and plenty of Ninty related arenas to scrap it out in.

So, to the point then. The Gamecube appears to be a tribute to all things Nintendo. Ninty themselves are re-creating many of their most popular franchises, giving out some franchises to second and third parties to give them time to concentrate on new series, and getting the classics just right. As well as frnachises we saw on the N64 Nintendo are bringing back to life older characters and series too. SSBM shows Ninty hasn't forgotten the old characters, and maybe some of them will get new games again, as surely their popularity will soar because of their fame in Smash Bros. So if you've ever enjoyed a Nintendo franchise, chances are you'll be in for a treat with GameCube with so many Nintendo related faces popping up again for new games. And this is why Nintendo have such a loyal fanbase. They have created so many great franchises and characters and every time they release a game starring one of their characters you can pretty much bet it'll be an absolute corker. Now this isn't designed as a Console War post, what I mean is that Nintendos strength has really always been with it's exclusive franchises, created by Nintendo themselves. And for Gamecube they seem to be ensuring that just about every Nintendo character around is getting some limelight, which should ensure Gamecube sells greatly among not just the loyalist Ninty fans, but with just about anyone who has owned and enjoyed a Nintendo machine.

All we need now is a Yoshi game!

When the Gamecube was initially first unveiled there was a short Gamecube clip of Banjo and his red breegull being chased down a mountain by a horde of enemies and it looked f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. But if they are to make a new Banjo, I think they should tinker with the formula a little, because Tooie was very similar to Kazooie...not that that's a bad thing.

They'll probably have a Banjo game... they're doing a GBA version aren't they...? Could be an opportunity to use the GBA-GC link cable... Rare have already tried to incorporate the two games in the Banjo series into one another with that stuff you saw at the end of B-K that featured secret stuff there that you could get for the next game... I'd be suprosed if they didn't want to do something even more special for the GBA version involving a fully 3D GameCube version of the series...
