So another Title Race has come to and end as Arsenal end up as the expected Champions for a year, after holding off a sloppy United side in a frustrating but highly anticiptaed fixture at Old Traford.
Due to numorous mistakes and blunders all over the United team this season, the Arsenal game was set to become the game to decide fate itself for us United fans. Once again we messed up, and it went Arsenal's way once more. I - like many other United fans - have had it with this!
It's simply gone on too long, and too many mistakes have led to a hugely dissapointing season following bright-signs emerging for £50m right back at the start of the season.
So, what exactly has gone so wrong that's made this season completely different to any other????
When something's wrong with a team the first person you usualy look to blame is the man in-charge, ie. Sir Alex Ferguson.
At a first glance, he's not the type of manager you'd instantly jump at the chance to critisise, after all those years of success - at United alone. And that counts double for all United fans. I feel this year is different though. Time after time this season he has persisted with that useless 4-4-1-1 systme which has failed miserabley about 98.5% of the time! The 4-4-2 is the only system that works for us as a team, and surely Fergie knows this after over 10 years of being in control!
Is he loosing it in his old age??? Should he be retiring, or is that countering descisison one that has aided his mistakes???
Everyone has surely pin-pointed the record £28.1m summer-signing of Juan-Sébastian Veron as the main cause behind these tactical 'changes'.
Every United fan and probably player too was more than happy with 'Giggs, Scholes, Keane and Beckham' across the middle, but Veron's arrival seemed tp distort this - badly!
I think Fergie felt that he HAD TO play Veron, no matter what else went on inside that Scottish, little, chewing gum-filled head of his, mainly due to the heafty price United payed for him, and his massive Wage Packet!
He was tried in the centre, on the right as a back-up for Beckham, down the left, and even behind the front 2 (or one) but nothing really seemed to click after a good start into the new season. Trying to fit Juan-Séba into the United team only seemed to make things worse for the team aswell!
Scholes lost his shining touch from last season, and was even tried out in that 'Supporting Attacker' role. Giggs pretty much stayed down the left wen he was fit-enough. But Beckham was taken in and out of the starting XI, and we even saw Roy Keane at the back to try and help out the situation there.
The 'Defensive Situation' began when Jaap Stam tried to defy all odds and do something un-believable - write a whole book - as a footballer!
The shocked and apauled faces came from the content of Stam's published Autobiography, and the bad remarks soon hit him hard, as his £17m departure to Lazio signalled the end of United's 'solid back-line'.
There was no doubt about it, as soon as he'd gone it'd be Mission Impossible (part 3) - where Fergie has to find a suitable replacement for 'Jip Jaap Stam', and fast!!
Mission Failed as he only brought in the aeging Laurent Blanc on a free, and didn't even use up a single penny of the recently aqquired £17m or so, except on some more good old Wriggley's Gun - Spearmint flavour!
But we all know Sir Alex should've strolled on into the Transfer Market big-time rather than down to the local Corner Shop!
Speaking of transfers, how could anyone ignore Ruud van Nistelrooy - a player who will end this season with a whopping 36 goals scored in all competitions!
His £19m move quickly came to completion after a one year delay due to a career threatening knee ligament injury.
No-one could've expected or even demanded the type of effect he's had this season on United's push for honours - especially in goal-scoring terms.
Problem is that we were all awaiting the arrival of 3 more shiny trophies which shockingly never came!
'Van the Man' hasn't really been his 'goal-scoring self' recently, and it's apparently all down to tiredness. Many United fans have been quick to drown these rumours due to their admiration and respect for the Dutch Inteernational, but you have to admit, it's very possible!
Think about it... you've been out of action for a good year or so, and you've missed out on your 'Dream Move' to Old Trafford through a serious injury, leaving you un-able to even walk!
You return one year later, still with United in your sights. You're current club PSV also have a seemingly easy Cup Final to play in, and you're instantly thrown back into the starting XI - with no time for "Welcome Back"'s or anything from anyone!
And as soon as the summer's gone, you're off to England to finally play for Man United. You're also amazed that they're still interested in you and you feel you HAVE to make an instant impact. And by gum do you ever!!
You top the scoring charts, break a Premiership record, and help your team through Europe!!
After a serious injury before this, doesn't this all seem a bit too... intense?? Your replacemnt ligament has only just really fully settled in, but no matter how hard you try, you won't be playing aswell as you started the season with those tired old, healing knees.
We could easily point most of the blame on the defence for this season, but as United are a team, they have to take full-responsibillity as a team, with no exceptions!
Barthez and Blanc are 2 of the back 5 who have made blunders and mistakes on several occasions this season - and also off the pitch for the French no.1 Goalkeeper. Truck loads of critisism and complaints have been hauled into their direction, and although you can't really blame the fans (as it's their opinion), this really hasn't helped the players get 'back to their best'!
So the 'un-supporting, glory-hunting, success-expectant' United fans among us are just as much to blame as anyone else at MUFC!
After all, Manchester United Football Club likes to keep it's fans envolved almost as much as any player, and that goes for any Football Club too!
So many mistakes have lead to us wasting and not savouring many, many chances for glory and the goods!
No one person can be blamed for all this, as they all stick together.
Lets all hope that these mistakes mentioned above can be resolved soon, so that Manchester United can return to being the dominant force of English Football, and this will only happen if the Club as a whole gets some good strong Backing and Suppport from the Players, Staff, and Fans, as a whole!!

Replacing Barthez with James???? That IS insane!
If that happens the Fergie will probably stick with the 4-4-1-1 formation for the majority of next season, keeping Keane in at centre-back and Veron on the right-wing with Beckham on the bench also!!
