Pokémon may have been a brief fad, but I bet that Nintendo wont look back on what they put into the franchise and say that they made a loss. With the cards, games and other merchandise, Pokémon must have made Nintendo a fare bit. But Nintendo was slow to realise that it was old, making a brief loss. Now that Pokémon is done and dusted, it makes way for new things. So while parts of a developing group are designing a new piece of merchandising, I bet that other parts of the developing group are designing something else.
With the Harry Potter books at the top of shops sales, it was only a while before a game was released. Before the game there was the books, the costumes, the posters and the cards. Unfortunately, the game was very disappointing and I don’t think it done EA’s reputation any good.
The Lord Of The Rings series has to be one of the most famous in the history of books and this fact is being taken advantage of by EA. With the DVD soon to be released as well as games, EA will surely succeed from these pieces of merchandise.
With Konami’s new arcade football machine on its way, they will have to be thinking about what to do next. As I have already said, they may even have two or three more ideas ready for release. After a while, this football game may go down the drain, making way for new and improved merchandise. If Konami are not ready for this failure, they may loose a lot of money in the brief time they are not in arcade centres.
With the Nintendo Gamecube release line just out, I’m sure that it will be a while before something new needs to be introduced to the public. But if something is needed, I’m sure it has already been made and awaiting release. What I’m trying to prove in this post is that it must be very hard for producers and companies to keep up with what is wanted.
I hope this was an interesting read,
Your o(^.^)o Juiciness
I see you used paragraphs this time.:D
You just copied what i wrote earlier.
Same with other film franchises like Star Wars, how many games do you think will come out that are Star Wars games to go along side the release of the new film?
I think, if they got the right people in there companies, game developers can always keep up with the times, its not hard to predict whats going to be big a few months before something happens is it?
Apart from this, i think games companies can also tell what we want, without the need for a big lisence like Star Wars of the World Cup. What do we all want? Good games, no matter what they are based on, genre ect, as long as they are good to play there going to be a hit.
It all depends on the company.
