STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2002--Building upon the brand extension announced in March, World Wrestling Entertainment(TM) unveiled its new program lineup beginning May 24.
The programming changes are designed to further develop the individual identities of the WWE Raw(R) and WWE SmackDown!(TM) brands.
The Superstars of WWE Raw(R), which airs on TNN/Monday, 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. ET, will be featured in two programs - WWE Sunday Night Heat(R) and WWE Bottom Line(TM), while the Superstars of WWE SmackDown!(TM), which airs on UPN/Thursday, 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET will be featured on two shows - WWE Velocity(TM) and WWE After Burn(TM). The company has also developed a new Saturday night program called WWE Confidential(TM) that will feature the overall World Wrestling Entertainment(TM) brand.
"This new Line(TM) up better reflects our brand extension, and will further define the WWE Raw(R) and WWE SmackDown!(TM) brands, as well as advancing and reinforcing storylines and our Superstars," said Linda McMahon, CEO of WWE(TM).
In support of the WWE Raw(R) brand, the company has unveiled the following program changes:
WWE Sunday Night Heat(R) (Debuts on Sunday May 26, 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. ET on MTV) is hosted by Raven(TM) and The Coach(TM) and brings you the hottest mat action and interviews that Ric Flair(TM)'s WWE Raw(R) has to offer! A 60 minute live event show featuring the hottest WWE(TM) Superstars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin(TM), Undertaker(R), Rob Van Dam(TM), Kane(TM), Ric Flair(TM) and many more. Once a month WWE Sunday Night Heat(R) comes to you live from the site of WWE(TM) Pay Per View Spectaculars where Raven(TM) and The Coach(TM) bring to you last minute details and behind the scenes information from backstage.
WWE Bottom Line(TM) (debuts in syndication on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, check local listings) delivers highlights and exclusives for WWE Raw(R). This magazine format show will analyze what went down on WWE Raw(R) and WWE Sunday Night Heat(R) as well as showcase WWE Raw(R) Superstars like you've never seen them before.
WWE Velocity(TM) (debuts Saturday, May 25, 10:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. ET on TNN) is a brand new one hour live event show featuring the talent of Vince McMahon's WWE SmackDown!(TM). Formerly the first hour of WWE Excess(TM), WWE Velocity(TM) will showcase original matches and highlights from Superstars such as The Rock(R), Hollywood Hulk Hogan(TM), Kurt Angle(TM), Edge(TM), Chris Jericho(TM) and many others. This unique one hour live event show will be hosted each week by the newest addition to the television roster Marc Loyd and WWE Tough Enough(TM) trainer Al Snow(TM).
WWE After Burn(TM) (debuts in syndication on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, check local listings) will break down the week that was for the WWE SmackDown!(TM) Brand. WWE After Burn(TM) will highlight matches and interviews from WWE SmackDown!(TM) and WWE Velocity(TM) as well as peeking behind the scenes with WWE SmackDown!(TM) Superstars as they invade the entertainment world.
WWE Confidential(TM) (debuts Saturday, May 25, 11:00 p.m. - Midnight ET on TNN) is a weekly magazine-style program that will give World Wrestling fans an up-close look at World Wrestling Entertainment(TM) and its past and present Superstars, both in and out of the ring. WWE Confidential(TM), which airs in the timeslot previously belonging to the second hour of WWE Excess(TM), is scheduled to feature episodes that showcase all aspects of a particular Superstar, including a "Day in the Life" of a World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar and historical perspectives on classic World Wrestling Entertainment(TM) matches and events.
