"Is Alone in the dark worth playing?"

I've played all the Alone in the Dark series, if only for a brief moment but found them all to be quite poor. I sat through the original's laughable controls just to compare it to Resident Evil and came to the conclusion that the only reason people know the name is from what Capcom took from it. Anyway getting to the point I started playing Alone in the Dark:New Nightmare a while back and was thrilled at the 60hz mode, graphics and attempt to revive the series, however I've got to the house bit, met that Indian dude and am sooo bored, can someone tell me if it's actually worth playing through or is it another extermination :-D

my mate rekons it's better than any of the resident evils and he just finished resi 3 last week.

He's just lent it to me (alone in the dark) so I'll take a look over the weekend.

I remember the first time I played alone in the dark, I came to a sticky end rather abruptly after playing for only a few minutes...

I think it got abot 7/10 when it was reviewed. My mate rekons it's good - but hard. He's lending me it tomorrow so I can make my own mind up.

The bloke in it's got a torch which reminds me of silent hill 2...

Should be able to get it cheap these days. I say go for it!
