The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
A year ago today I was flicking through some PS2 magazines looking for a place to buy online and came across ukchatforums. Kid Rock wasn't the top of the all time top posters, the longest thread in fog only took a fraction of the web space it does today and there was even a separate forum for PS1 and PS2.
First impressions of the forums were that it looked a great place to hang out and hey free games, where do I sign? But like most newbies I wrote pants two line topics and didn’t take too well on other people dissing consoles, Eventually I got to grips with what this place is all about, became a regular and now talk to my old rivals regularly on msn ;-)
I’ve learned alot about gaming whilst on these forums and my interest in the subject has rocketed, having prizes awarded every day to the best topic and review makes this place what it is and I think without that the quality would drop. As a few of you know, I never did shut up about wanting my second win, I spent hours figuring out and writing a walkthru for Shadow of Memories, A spoiler free guide to see what’s behind all 6 possible endings of the complex game but because I posted it before the walkthru section was properly set up it never got entered. I also spent many late nights trying to get that second win but was just unlucky, Eventually I did get it for reviewing one of my favorite games Fear Effect 2, although this game was on PS1 and a little old I found it to be one of the classics and simply writing how much I enjoyed the game earned me my second prize :-D
These forums and discussing games altogether is not just for a chit chat (well that too) but it’s here to find out what’s behind the gaming industry, where it’s been and more importantly where it’s heading. Special Reserve is now my number one spot for buying games and I’ve found my frequent visits to the forums over the past year very enjoyable :-)
