Me and my friend are both students studying at University. When we first moved into our new house last year, all that sat below the television in our lounge was an old, sorry-looking Playstation. We had the odd fun games on Gran Turismo and Tekken 2, but that was about as far as it went...

Not long after, I became the proud owner of my beloved Playstation 2. Finally our home sweet home had entered the world of next-generation gaming and we could play games like Tony Hawks 3, GT3 and GTA3. A month or so ago my housemate purchased an Xbox when it was released and with it he got Halo, Amped and Max Payne. We both soon realised that we were in the rather fortunate situation of having the two best consoles in our living room for our gaming pleasure.

We could all argue all day about which is the better console; the PS2 or the Xbox? But whatever way you look at it, surely the ultimate solution is to own both. This means that now whenever we buy games, we are not restricted to buying a title for one particular console. This enables me and my pal to buy games purely on the basis of how good they are, which benefits both of us.

With our house now being so very close to Gaming Perfection, our attention has now turned to the upcoming Nintendo GameCube. My housemate suggested that we should consider splitting the cost 50/50 and buying Nintendo's new machine. I then raised the point that if we had all 3 consoles, we should then consider replacing our 30" television with a larger widescreen surround-sound one, which i believe you can rent for about £12 a month (£6 each!) Surely this would mean we would have the ultimate gamers paradise?!

The TV we've got is pretty good, but we thought we'd perhaps go the whole hog and get a widescreen one. We'll probably stick with what we've got though.

You need women lounging on sofas. In bikinies and stuff.

But ones which dont talk and ask 'why did he do that' every 2 seconds.
And they fetch you beer. On command.
