"Datel have revealed the European version of their GameCube Action Replay legendary Action Replay, which will allow you to get the most out of your games through totally unauthorised cheats and enhancements to spice up your gameplay. It will also allow you to play import games on your PAL GameCube - which mean that you wont have to wait ages for the latest Cube titles. The Gamecube Action Replay will retail at £29.99 when released in the Summer. Datel have also announced that a cut-down version of the Action Replay, which will simply allow import games to be played, will be released alongside the full version priced at £19.99." - www.cube-europe.com
Anyone fancy playing Metroid on Christmas Eve?
Its gonna be hard to play copied games on a normal cube though...these small discs that Ninty use aint exactly in mass production. You can get them mini-cds like the one Nintendo made to use on your PC but they only hold a few hundred megabytes...
Apparetly it could be possible on the Panasonic Q though...
And I thought this new generation was gunna be full of 'Fair Gameplay' with no way of adapting a Cheat Cart to a Cart Solt-less Console!
Wrong again. :(
1) Files are not automatically run off the memory card when the console is turned on. So, you put in an import game, console can't read it, nothing happens. The memory card doesn't come into the boot process.
2) Even if it were possible, they don't want people to do what you said: copy friend's CD's memory saves!
Sonic
Gaming Heaven.
However, it won't raise legal suits for the company. You see, when chip companies are brought to court, the charge is that their chips can be used to play COPIED games as well as imports and "Back ups". Hence they can't get away with it.
If Datel (who have plenty of experience) do things right, the unit won't be able to play copies, just imports. Which, as Ninty and Sega found out in the Codemasters fiasco of years ago, isn't illegal because it's a game cheat cart!
