Ever felt like your head is going to explode? Like, in the same moment, you have discovered the meaning of life, and your mind is blank? You think of everything. Every life, every person with problems, with hopes, with dreams, with fears. And you can't imagine it. It's too complex. Your head feels as if it will explode. Because you are so insignificant. But yet you still believe you can change the world. That an individual, all individuals, have power. But when there are so many billions of individuals what makes you so special? You just know you are. You can't explain why. And your head feels like it will implode. From the thoughts and opinions others bombard you with. But you hold to your views. You know you are special. Somehow you know.

I don't know if this is explaining it properly. Do you understand? I'm not exactly sure I do. But I think this helps. It is a section of an essay someone wrote about a band, 'Bad Religion', that I found in the CD sleeve. It doesn't actually give a name (as far as I can see) to who wrote it, but anyhow...

"The Nazi symbol that was adopted during the punk movement to mean that there was no freedom to 'make your own life'. There was not even any desire to. It went further to say that negation would make it all become clear to everyone that the world is far different than it appears, but only when carried out to the extreme to have the 'possibility that the world may be nothing', that both nihilism and creationism exist on the same plane."

Not sure if that clarified my thoughts. It makes sense to me. Everything we know, this world, even this galaxy is completely insignificant looking at the bigger picture. I have been informed that there are more galaxies in the whole universe than there are grains of sand on every beach on the planet. Does your head feel like it will explode? Just try to imagine all those grains, every one representing a galaxy, each with planets in it, each planet a vast expanse, new horizons, new life?

But while you are visualising that remember what matters. You can change the world. You know you're special. Right?

The word is 'acephalous'
This is how we feel, becuase nobody is taking charge. We are naked without a clear definition, but a lack of change is easier than a change. We don't like change becuase we don't know what the change will bring, and if it brings knowledge, then we don't like it becuase we become slightly stupider in comparison with all the knowledge there is in the universe. The lack of change means that we cannot evolve, and that means we want a leader to help us to move, but that would cause a change... etc etc.

Actually, i think the word is 'vicious circle'
The only way out is to break that circle, but everybody expects one other person to do it. That's the way it's been for years. Do you think the printing press was invented by one genius or a commitee of nervous layabouts?

Heh. What I was trying to say was to an extent what you said, but also that people can become very worried about their actions and what people will make of them. But in a decade or so (may seem very long, but relatively, the world has been here millions of years...) no one will even remember. That many of the actions we agonise over will have very little impact and even we'll have forgotten them a few years down the line. But however insignificant we may seem, we can still make a difference. Will we be remembered? I think I'd rather make a difference.

I'm not sure what it is you're trying to say here.

Is it that were all unique and that no matter what happens, and no matter how many thoughts about life, death, creation the universe and so on bombard your brain were all still special? We all stand out in our own way? Well you're right we do, I'm guessing many of us have been in the situation where we can't take it anymore, were thinking abut so many things all at the same time that it hurts.

I'm also guessing this was something you needed to say and wanted it off your mind right? If it was great, everyone needs to do that.

Sorry if I've completely got the wrong idea about this.
