Too true. It seems that nearly every soap on telly has a charecter or actor who drives you up the soding wall.

Most soaps are crap but i like Eastenders :)>
Could someone please explain to me why the vast majority of watchers of soaps are women and what exact pleasure they derive from watching depressing storylines?
I know most blokes at least get a bit of piece and quiet when they watch them so perhaps we should be grateful for them being on but I for one can't stand the total cr@p that's produced.....

All soaps tend to recycle the same story line over and over again.
For example, a couple are planning to get married, but one of them confronts an old enemy to tell them to sod off and not spoil their wedding day. One thing leads to another and before you know it, both have shagged each other, which they instantly regret. The marriage goes ahead, then after a few weeks the truth slips out. Before you know it everyone is crying, shouting and beating the crap out of each other. Two or three weeks later the exact same story line begins again, but with different characters.
That’s the problem with TV soaps, they tend not to try something original, repeating plots nearly every bloody episode. There’s also the fact that most soaps are too depressing, with nothing make you smile about when watching them. They need to lighten up a little.

The only good thing about Eastenders was Dirty Den, and he got shot years ago. From that point on there was no reason whatsoever to watch any soap opera except from the brilliant 'Soap'. Anyone old enough to remember that one?
