A lot has changed since I was last here, the X-Box has been released and had a £100 price drop ALLREADY which doesn't really strike much confidence in its success with me, in fact I'm not sure its gonna do well at all. The Cube came out yesterday and from early sources, and I mean very early sources, seemed to have a good release, as always time will tell if it really takes off. The PS2 however is still leading the way and showing both Microsoft and Nintendo how things are really done, I'm beginning to ask myself if anyone can actually create a console which will beat Sony's efforts in the console world, probably not for a while I shouldn't think.
My PS2 still sits proud next to my TV, and my Dreamcast is soon to be replaced with a Cube. That's the way forward for me in the gaming world, still not interested in PC gaming and with the X-Box sparking no fire of passion within me I'm setting my sights on having a Cube accompany my PS2.
By having the two I think that ill have near enough all that's available to me as a gamer. The world of serious gaming from the PS2 with the likes of Medal of Honour Frontline on the way and the fun more down to earth games of the Cube like the new Mario title. Enough to satisfy any hungry game freak like myself!!!
Anyway, that's my plans for the next few months, for the world of gaming anyway, I'm sure some of you will have the same idea as me (apart from of course the stubborn one sided supporters amongst us!) but as always I'd like to know your opinions, so please post a reply, cheers, Dean
1.PS2 sold truck loads even when it cost 300 and is selling more now its cheaper
2.X-Box failed to sell loads at 300 and dropped to 200 one month after release
3.PS2 top of sales charts, worldwide....
4....X-Box is not
PS2 still "Controls" the market just because its selling so well throughout all regions of the world, take a look at the official Microsoft statement about the price drop, they do a good job at covering up its failed release. Sign of things to come ? Maybe so.
I've not been on here very often either, occasionally coming back and I must say it's nice to see that you have a plan in what you're going to be playing. No doubt your plans will change, and that'll only be a good thing.
I've bought myself an X Box after planning not to buy anything until the next next generation consoles appear, but when the price came down I just had to get one and in all honesty it is absolutely fantastic. You must play it before judging it Master Dean...
Halo is much better than Edge says it is, RalliSport arrived yesterday - my hands are still shaking from the vibrating controller, and finally FIFA has amazed me in the form of World Cup 2002 - what an superb football game.
The GameCube graphics for Sonic 2 look identical to the Dreamcast and I haven't been impressed with Luigi's mansion, if he has to carry a vacuum around with him, it can't be a very tidy house. Saying that, the Nintendo adverts are really 'cool', the games look like they've been pumped full of gameplay, and that price is more tempting than a stuffed crust Pizza. PS2 continues to sell well and bring out some great games but I'm not at all bothered with the PS2 - X Box games visuals pee all over the PS2's, just look at FIFA 2002 WC, (WC? No pun intended, honest...), but everything seems to have good karma.
Nice to see you back here mate.
Lets all go play Virtua Tennis 2 because Tim Henman looks like a Dinosaur!
