can someone provide some details regarding the DVD player on the Xbox? I cannot find out any opinions on it. Does it look good and play smoothly? Also, what kind of sound can it produce? can it be plumbed into a hifi to give 6 seperate channels of sound?

I must agree with GlideM the DVD is superier and you can jump to any chapter you want and the sound and visual is great too and my husband hooked it up to the main TV and the sound and picture was even better

DVD quality is amazing. I have a stand alone DVD player as well which I used before I got my Xbox. I've got the DVD player and I have to say it's amazing. I had a PS2 and the quality is better, no clunking around.
The controllers really cool, and you can fast forward to something like 32x normal speed - wicked ;-p

Im in the dark as much as you mate. I simply don't have a clue what the Xbox is like as a DVD player. Supposed to be better than PS2 but I can't say for sure.
