It's easy to knock such a high profile figure as Mr Gates but many in this forum do, we don't trust him or his company and now they are set to enter "our" world of gaming. I love the concept of a super powerful console so do the developers it seems , but at the same time I do not trust the guy, he interferes in politics and the education system he is a bad person.

Throughout history people of diminuitive stature or shall we say the vertically challenged have made up for this by amassing power and wielding it ruthlessly. Although good old Bill "mines a soul sucking monoploy" Gates is not particularly short he is definately missing something in the physique stakes.

He has made up for this by building a huge and successful multinational company. The abuse he received at school, the computer Nerd taunts drove him on and he achieved his goal. So why do we see him as the antichrist?

I shivered with fear when I first heard that Microsoft were planning to enter the console market with the X-Box. Bill Gates is a man with a plan, he always has an agenda. Microsoft could have been the company to produce a quality operating system that everyone would buy and enjoy using. But why produce the perfect article when you can get away with bug ridden efforts and then make money from the bug fixes.

Microsoft has a bad reputation as they dont have decent quality control and it appears that this is a purposeful business tactic. The PC market is so dominated by Microsoft technology that there is really no option but to use their products BUT this is not so with consoles.

IF Microsoft try to palm us gamers off with a half baked gaming machine then they will find this a tough market. There is a lot of competition out there, and this competition is respected. Nintendo, Sega and Playstation (good marketing means that many recognise Playstation more than Sony) are respected names in the gaming community. Many gamers own or have experience of PC's and quite frankly would not trust Mr Gates as far as they could throw him.

We remain open minded (although not completely so as Monopolysoft's bad reputation precedes it and lingers like a bad smell) and if the X-Box has the great games and a stable operating system (I am not sure if Bill knows what one of these is) then it will take off. IF However the X-Box initially disappoints it will find gamers very hard to win over.

The X-Box does not enter the ring with a clean slate. It carries Microsoft's baggage and it will have to come out fighting if it is to shake that baggage loose, wipe the slate clean and challenge the previous champions. (apologies for the mixed metaphors!!).

We shall see what happens, but I for one think Bill changed his name from Mr Hell Gates. Windows 98: Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here.

Yeah, thats definately the case when a supreme court ruling in America forced Microsoft to fragment their company earlier this year, I would say that it is very dubious.

Well, I wouldn't say he was a bad person - after all, I don't know him. But I do think that Microsoft's business practices are highly dubious.
