There has been weeks of speculation, some would even say months, ever since *that* Christmas card was sent by Rare last, funnily enough, Christmas.
You know the one. With the boxes under the green tree thing. Yup, that's the one. Speculation has been rife over whether Rare were "going multiformat".
Lots of shouting by Ninties, lot's of shouting by Sony-ies. Some actually about the topic.
But today Rare broke the silence. Well, not really, they released a written press release. So they still haven't *said* anything. But anyway. Here is a copy of the release, in full:
"Er, other companies make games as well you know."
So there you go, you're one of the first to read it.
But what could it mean? It does seem rather cryptic. Jeremy Clarkson had this to say on the topic: "Well, look at me. Wearing jeans and a suit jacket. I look a right t**." Convincing stuff, eh?
Mo Mowlam was commented as saying "I'm fat and ugly. And I look like a man."
So we went back to Rare, to ask them directly. We got this response:
"What sort of f##king question is that?! It means what it says. OTHER COMPANIES MAKE GAMES AS WELL! What can't you understand about that you f#####g idiot?!"
The door was slammed in our fase.
So what could it mean? Is it some sort of big joke, or do other companies make games as well?
