I just purchased a PS2 and need some advice...What is the easiest way to get rid of the dodgy 'green' hue on the DVD playback?

WRONG!

Version 2.3 of the Messiah chip, which I have, does everything.

If you're using the cables that came with the PS2, then green screen shouldn't be a problem anyway. Check your connections and cables.

If it's still green, take your PS2 back to wherever you got it and ask for a new one.

Messiah doesn't make your PS2 region free, if your console is then maybe they fitted a multi-region chip at the same time.

Just a word before he goes off and opens his PS2 ;-)

Region X is a CD based program that removes the green screen (when using an RGB cable) and allows you to play DVDs from any region.

dubhead, to eliminate the green screen (you made the right choice by buying a better quality RGB SCART lead), I suggest you get your machine chipped with a Messiah chip. I've had mine fitted for a few months now and it works flawlessly. No more green screen, multiregion DVD playback, and best of all...cheap games ;o)

Go here to get it sorted:

http://www.playstationmods.info

£60 for the chip (they call it the Phoenix, but it is the Messiah) plus £20 fitting (highly recommend getting it fitted - it's a pig to do yourself!!), and whatever the postage costs are for sending it there and back (cost me £18 each).

£120 might sound like a lot, but when you can get 20 games for the price of 1, the maths make a lot of sense!

Just say Graham and Glen recommended you for fast service! These guys are totally professional, and even put their own warranty sticker back on the case!!

I'm using the original leads that come with the machine but the DVD playback has a greenish tint to the picture!..I thought this was a common problem that could be solved if I purchase an additional set of Scart-leads?

What do you mean? The screen is all green but you can still see the picture?

If you do then you must have changed the scart cable from the one that came with the PS2, you will need to put it back in, it's the one with the red, yellow and white leads going into it.
