Just days before the European launch of the Gamecube Nintendo have announced that Luigi's Mansion will feature several features not available in the US or Japanese versions, hoping to appeal more to a classic Nintendo audience. Once the regular game has been completed on easy mode, several new modes will become available:

What's the time Mr Ghost? Is Nintendo's own take on school playground favourite, 'what's the time Mr wolf'. In this game the ghost will shout out a number of steps, and players must follow them, running away if the ghost shouts that it's 'fright time!'

Hide 'n' Seek: A two player split screen option, in which one player runs and hides in the mansion, and the other player tries to find him. Fears that players would simply look at the other side of the screen to see where their opponent was hidden were dismissed, considered to be too complex a concept for the typical Nintendo gamer to understand.

How many ghosts? Puts you in Luigi's shoes with a calculator to help. You'll be required to go in up to 4 different rooms, and count the ghosts in each, adding them up.

These extra games are though to add up to an extra 10 hours playtime for an experienced gamer, much, much longer for novices.

I heard it was 100 free copies of the game to the first 100 people who bought a Gamecube. Compared to the thousands of consoles that will be purchased, that aint really much.
