Most of my friends own Playstation 2's which I aggree are very good and powerful but they don't have many original and innovaive games. I aggree that Metal Gear Solid is fantastic and Gran Turismo's physics are stunning but these games are sequels with an already tried and tested formula.
Where are the original games such as Super Monkey Ball.
This is what makes the Gamecube so special for me. Also what many people don't seem to realise is, is that it is the second most powerful console after Xbox. The Playstation 2 is the least most powerful console. Even though the Xbox is the most powerful cnsole, I wrote that off because I don't believe it will get the quality titles of the other two consoles.
Anyway, Gamecube's launch line up is the most impressive and all the games are immensely playable. The graphics are fantastic and how can you resist games like Rogue Leader and Luigi's mansion. These are sure to become classics and no other console will get them.
What's more, the launch price is about £130 which Nintendo deserve praise for alone. They would rather give njoyment to the gamers than make vast amounts of profit like Sony or Miicrosoft.
I know that a lot of people have already written it off because of the un-succsesful N64 but in my view, it is the best next gen console.
Of course not! They were well known as the daddies of gaming.
However, when the console launched with nothing to compete with the "adult" realistic racers, fighters and shooters people did begin to say they were kiddy.
The reason they had none of these genres was as a result of the publisher problem (Ninty being arrogant by not letter people make games for the console!).
In Japan the big Japanese games (like the FF series) had gone to Sony and so Ninty lost out there.

Anyway I think the cube is underated. Most people can't see through the cartoon style graphics of Mario and Luigi games to be bold enough to buy them, which is a great shame, because they are missing out. But then again if Nintendo had enough 'mature' games on a console of theirs to make them buy it then it might give the people who doubt these games the reason to buy them.
When people say the GameCube is rubbish I ask them why and they say something like 'oh, there aren't enough 'mature' games on it' and then I ask whether they've heard of Eternal Darkness or Metroid but they have no idea what they are. Now these games are being pushed as much as any other game on other consoles but still are unheard of. Nintendo should try and inform people of these games to come, but the fact still remains that the GameCube is under rated.

The N64 fell short of the PS for the following reasons:
1) Ninty refuse to allow other developers (even big names like Square) make games for the console until after Ninty have released it.
2) Ninty charge huge premiums for the "pleasure" of making games on a Nintendo console. Sony, on the other hand, gave dev kist away and gave excellent support.
3) Ninty delayed the N64 time and time again for over one and a half years.
4) When the N64 did launch it had many problems. Not only did the games cost huge amounts (£60), but there was only ONE release game. Over here there were only 4 release games AND the price dropped from £250 to £150 in 2 weeks, losing customer support.
5) by the time the N64 did launch, Sony had MASSIVE amounts of exclusive games from all the companies that had left Nintendo (Square, Namco, Capcom etc). Meanwhile few developers were releasing such games for the N64.
It wasn't just to do with Ninty being "kiddy"- they were just plain arroagant and assumed that they'd always rule the market.

We are jsu tagueing the same points over and over agin! im just gonna wait untill the gamecube comes out then i will be able to know which console is the best and stick with my own opinion! why do we have to keep on chattin about how better the gamecube is to xbox! im gettin game cube thats final and im keepin my opinion to myself cos im sickin of hearin evryone elses!
Firstly, the power of a console is irrelevant. The quality of games on the system is 100% independent of the power of that system.
Now, concerning games, the GC is not under rated. You do point out that it has innovative games that us lot love, but this is NOT what most casual gamers want. They DO want realistic racers, fighters and action games. They don't want to play original games- just look at the sales figures for Rez.
Certainly the GC will do well- any hardcore gamers will buy one. However, it will fall far short of the PS2 sales figures simply because it doesn't cater for the massmarket gamers.
