Advantages.
1. Staying one step a head
Within the last week nintendo have dropped the price of there gamecube, (following x-box drop) this is useful to nintendo as they can dictate the RRP before it's even on the market. Also being last give the company time to add as many whistle and bells to keep the public interested.
2. Testing time
When the ps2 came out it had some mistakes in the electronics design, this is because sony rushed to bring it out. The people at nintendo haven't rushed to bring it out and hopefully the 'cube we be hassle free!
3. I've heard of them.
Nintndo is a well founded company that is a household name world wide. So when ever they release a product it's bound to get recognized by the media and public. So it's not as though there a new company tagging on, therefore it gives them a good chance for sucess.
4. Back to school
Learning from other mistakes. If a lauch goes particuly badly then then Nintendo can learn from that how they need to organize there launch to make it work well.
Dis-advantages
1. Breaking the market.
Nintendo have a tough fight a head aginst the well founded Ps2 and the x-box although not doing to well it's only a matter of time untill the microsoft blokes sort it out.
2. Keeping interest.
It's hard to keep the public interested in a console thats not out yet. The N64 didn't do too well so people might be turning to other companies to buy there game consoles.
3. Media attention.
Like the previous point nintendo have to provide the media with the right info, to keep the public interested. But so to much hype of a product and the end result could be dissapointing.
4. No money or i've already got one.
People have already bought there x-box and PS2 so why get an GC and even if want one can they afford it?
So will it work for Nintendo or will they fall to the depths of doom? We will find out in the next week.
Thank you for reading
If Nintendo are instead hopping onto this generation, two things can be taken as certain.
1) The GC can indeed compete with its already released peers, family entertainment, as always, being the key to Nintendo's success.
2) The GC is expected to last well into the years of the next generation of consoles, competitively so.
Time will tell if Nintendo have judged it right. I hope for their sakes that they have.
