The PS analog sticks are fine, especially the PS2 ones. As for the N64 that things hazadous, there's no grip, no spring or anything to pop it back into place and moving it fully forward needs a large amount of effect and makes you loose concentration on the game.

no it doesn't, ask anyone.

use the middle part of your thumb on the X button and the tip of your thumb on the Square button, Thats how I use it and i haven't found a better way.
shoulder buttons are okay.
They're excellent and unlike the N64 both sides are used, wow ;-)

your only supposed to use your index fingers.
the d-pad has no grip and you might as well kiss any chance

The N64's d-pad is the worst I've seen on any console and I've owned ALOT, the PS D-pad has a hollow point in the centre providing grip and allowing ease for your thumb to roll, another thing that couldn't be better.

theres nothing wrong with the pads, design except the force feedback on the analog sticks which I heard was in development in mid-2000 *sigh*
that is my opinion,
fair enough (but please don't call me a jerk!)

good for you

it's what your used to but I've owned many consoles and found the Dual Shock to be the most comftable and easy to use.
Just to remind all the Ninty fans out there that Sega were the first to use analogue sticks- a pad released with NiGHTS! on the Saturn was just a black dreamcast controller (but with 6 buttons and far better!). That was over a year befre the N64 release!
Ah, and analogue buttons come from the dc pad :p
Just though i'd say!

I think that the shape/size of the playstation controller is wrong, because when you hold it the two fingers furthest away from your thumb’s cant grip it properly if at all. One way that this could be over come is by slightly extending the prongs. There isn’t really any need for 4 shoulder buttons, as hardly any games use them. The ones that do don’t really need them either; the use of them just makes holding the controller even more un-comfy. The reason for this is because the shape of it is wrong, it doesn’t let you hold all 4 shoulder buttons while having good access to the rest of the controller (makes likely hood of getting RSI more as well).
The control sticks on the playstation are incorrectly placed on the pad, but the main reason for this is because the main focus in games was on the D-pad. So the D-pad was in the right place. The problem with the stick isn’t so much the sticks themselves its more the games fault. The problem was the games weren’t fluid, but this isn’t so bad on the PS2. So when you tried to turn a little bit using the stick, the game would turn you half a mile, because they were still being designed with the D-pad as the main focus.
One good thing about the controller is its light, this isn’t the only good thing about the controller. But I feel this is the main good thing about it. I would but my views on other controllers but the post would get fairly long and the topic is about playstation controllers anyway!
Otherwise I think the GC controller will turn out to be the best, the only thing wrong with it is the Z button which isn't to good!
The BIGMAN
I just find it all too much to use, and it does make some games way too complicated to play for me. I also find that it's awkward to grip both those sticks well, and they do give my thumbs blisters!
As for the 2 L and 2 R buttons, WHY????
Surely you only need 2, as 4 makes the controller thicker and just makes games that require their use too complicated!
To be honest, I think it's the least favoured controller amongst gamers, when compared with the official GameCube and X-box pads anyway.
I prefer the X-box one, even if it is 3 times the size!
And as for the GameCube's, just like the N64's was, I believe that this one will be the best around once more!
