That would be for setting up a system for newspaper deliveries....
advantages
Excel could hold and perform calculations on the prices and bills for customers, calculate profits, income, expenditure etc
Access will allow you to store details in a relational database such as customer details, stock, newspapers etc
disadvantages
An individual package that does these would be better
cost - expensive
Require a fair bit of knowledge to set up and maintain.
Expand all these points though as they are just the basic idea.

Heh, I don't actually know any advantages to Access. I hate that sodding program :)
Access is a truely excellent piece of software once you get to know it..
Highly useful, and still used in industry a lot.
