This is for Europe, by the way.

OK: Game Boy versus Game Gear.

GB - Grey
GG - Black

The Game Gear was totally slaughtered by the Game Boy.

SNES vs Genesis

SNES - Grey
Mega Drive/Genesis - Black

Admittedly, in America the Genesis, or Mega Drive, or whatever narrowly beat the SNES but over here, the Super Nintendo did better.

N64 vs Playstation

N64 - Black
PS - Grey

Are you beginning to see a pattern here? ALL THE GREY CONSOLES DID WELL IN EUROPE~!

Fast forward to the next generation.

DC vs...well, sort of the N64, PS, and PS2.

DC - Grey

Now here is the interesting bit: the DC was grey, but failed miserably. Why? Because, at the end of the 90s, we changed. From grey, to...

PS2 - Black

Black.

XBOX - Black

See?

GCN - Now this is the worrying bit. Black Gamecubes are already sold out in the UK, far and away the best colour...but Nintendo will have lots of other colours to bring out. Sure, a couple of people will think it's cute to have a banana-coloured cube under their TV for like a week...but perhaps their dedication to 'being wacky' could lead to less people buying Gamecubes. They can't find a black one, and so they can't be bothered to buy a girly, purple one.

All three next gen consoles have black versions, and are all doing pretty damn well in the UK...but perhaps, PERHAPS the GCN will lose the race.

PS2 - already established, will win the console war. It is undeniable.

XBOX - after the desparate price slash, should see a dramatic improvement.

GCN - not yet out...with a bad image to the dreaded 'casual gamer'...and, most importantly...not always black.

So there: if any of you guys are planning on competing with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo with the current wave of machines...make sure your box is black.

Thoughts? Flames on my scattered post? Childish jokes about how big the XBOX is, or how kiddy the GCN is?
