For crying out loud, why does Fifa always have to make the world cup footie games, just because they're an official sponsor. Everyone knows that Fifa make the most original and boring football games. Is the world cup original? I think not.

What I'm trying to say here is that Fifa should hand over their crown to Konami and allow them to make a decent footie title that'll give the essential world cup experience on our home consoles. Fifa have had their say for a very long time and it's about time that Konami put a bid in for their shot at making a world cup football game.

Is it too late? Well, when you think about it, it's not. Fifa always make they're world cup games months before the actual world cup, but Konami can take a different route and make their game months after the event.

What do you think?

It's irrelevant whether you said they should, or they will.

KR is right, releasing a game based on the Sydney Olympics in 2002 wouldn't sell too well, would it?

The whole point of releasing World Cup games is to ride the hype wave, and use the excitement surrounding the competition to get people to buy the game. Otherwise you may as well not bother with the license.

However, I do believe you were spot on in another bit of your post. I can just see the chief executive of EA sports sending a letter to Konami, containing lots of forms etc. saying "Here, our games aren't very good and although they always make lots of money, it's just not fair to the people who buy our games. Take the licenses".

no matter how many Fifa games they make they are always going to be crap and are always going to top the sales chart.

Some twisted logic working 'round here

But normally, games that take after something else come after, not before.

making a world cup game after the world cup would be a bad idea because all the excitement and stuff would have died down by then
