i loose dirctories sometimes when chmoding any ideas ? they just become invisable... but i feel they are still there as some ftp programs show them as hidden ones... but i am unable to access them or re chmod... help please

I had all sorts of problems with levels of authority after some changes Freeola made a few months ago. I think they tightened up on security, but for some reason it meant that you have to make your directories 777 or else even you won't be able to get at them. I "lost" my images directory like that, so that even my php scripts couldnt show the pics on my own pages. I had to get the Freeola administrator to reset the chmod levels for me.
