Where's a good bet to buy golf clubs from?

For me, I'm looking for a starter set that includes a reasonable range or irons, a driver and a sandwedge; with a bag thrown in if possible.

eBay has always been recommended to me but the condition of the clubs and the fact that it works very slowly on this new computer are down points, but, is it worth perservering with it?

On the other hand, Amazon have a relatively good set including 8 irons, 3 drivers, a sandwedge, putter and bag; all for only £49.99 (Bearing in mind I'll have a £30 Amazon voucher soon this sounds quite good)

Yeah so any recommendations welcomed, highstreet stores too. I bought a putter in 'americangolf' yesterday for a tenner so the set doesn't need one.

Also it's probably worth telling you I'm a beginner and only really looking for a set of clubs that'll last me, rather than particularly good makes. As long as I get a few irons I'm happy, so cheaper and smaller sets preferred. Not too bothered about any woods at this point.

Thanks for any help.

Bagged a set off eBay for £60. It's got 9 irons, all titanium-reinforced, 3 woods and driver and a sandwedge. It also comes with a bag. Will be arriving in 1-3 working days

Together with my putter for a tenner it's not a bad price.

Next challenge; good place to buy golf balls cheap?

The amazon set sounds fine.

Maybe try going to a golf shop though, and see if you can test-drive (*ba-tsh*) the type of clubs amazon are selling.

Just hunt around. The Amazon deal sounds like a good one. If you need another club, just get one.

I got my set in a closing down sale in one of my local sports stores.

Obviously, the better the clubs, the better your game will get but as a beginner, just any set will be good enough.
