Free radical have announced that Timesplitters 2 is going to be released across all three of the "next gen" cosoles. This is the first time that a game will have come out on all three. This is interesting in that it could be the beggining of the end for exclusive franchises and even more interesting is that gamesradar can see no difference in the quality fo the graphice between all three.

Tony Hawks 3 is out of four consoles. Don't know if the cube or xbox version support online play or not.

have you ever heard of a game called age of empires II?
that is a Microsoft game and is on the PS2. Sega also made Crazy taxi a multi format game even when the Dreamcast was still on sale.

Its a pitty microsoft own bungie, the company who made halo. I doubt very much that Bill Gates would allow his consoles killer app game be converted to his arch enemies machine, our PS2. It would be great if it did though.

Maybe! I certianly won't be buying games on both platforms, but a rental is a possibility.

Sorry - just showing my ignorance there !

I just thought that maybe they would have to sort out how they communicate with the network but if they would all use standard TCP protocols then nothing would be standing in the way.

It would be interesting to get views from someone like you who has both consoles on wether a game such as this is actually better on one or other. Maybe you could rent them or something and give us a playtest in the future Wookiee ????

No it wouldn't - the protocols are already in place.

All internet access uses the TCP/IP protocol for access, and any machine with online capability already has access to its own TCP/IP drivers.

All the developer has to do is put the necessary communication routines into all versions of the software. Just the same as you can chat live from your PC to someone using a Mac.
