Yes the Silicon Knight teams new champion, managed by the legendary Dennis Dyack, Eternal Darkness is a newbie in the world of horror.
“In the Yellow corner, weighing in at a colossal 2, 1.5 GB discs, the undefeated champion RESIDENT EVIL!”
Here we have the offspring of the first legendary Resident Evil, he looks better, moves better and is much scarier, and is being trained by the world famous Shinji Mikami from the Capcom team. Can Eternal Darkness survive against such a fan favourite?

And here we are in round 1, Eternal Darkness swoops in but Resident Evil goes for a “Storyline” swing and hits Eternal Darkness. Eternal Darkness is seeing S.T.A.R.S (members) getting slaughtered in a mansion, and Resident Evil swing again and Eternal Darkness is seeing more S.T.A.R.S sent in to investigate. Eternal Darkness looses his balance with that Storyline shock but Eternal Darkness swings back and OH smacks Resident Evil back into next century, in fact several Centuries with a storyline based around the Ancients trying to re-claim the earth by destroying man kind with a story that takes place over several centuries from a Roman with an axe to a girl with a Rocket Launcher. And Resident Evil took a nasty blow there, and Eternal Darkness seems to have the upper hand. But Resident Evil strikes back with 3 Playable characters, but this was a pathetic attack as Eternal Darkness smashes Resident Evil to the floor with 12! Resident Evil goes for a left hook graphics attack, Resident Evil’s Graphics are some of the best any Console has ever seen with real time lighting, gorgeous character design and detailed backdrops, but being pre-rendered Eternal Darkness blocks with their “REAL” 3D backdrops, which aren’t as nice but more realistic. So the strike is parried and now the bell rings ending round one.
Well Resident Evil needs to improve as we head into Round 2 and the bell rings for the next round. And these is much better from the golden oldie, Resident Evil starts jabbing with the added discs and free memory card into the side of Eternal Darkness, and a huge smack across the face with the popularity of the game. Eternal Darkness is beginning to lose its edge as Resident Evil goes for a music shot that has been perfected over many years but Eternal Darkness parries this with the Nintendo orchestra boasting brilliant sounds and so it is blocked. Resident Evil then attacks with gore, Eternal Darkness takes a shot back and this looks close but Resident Evil gets the hit, with men’s heads getting slammed into windows and Zombies throwing up beating the blood shown in Eternal Darkness. It is almost KO time for the new comer but does he have any tricks up his sleeve, Resident Evil strikes the possible lifespan-shortening blow with 15-20 hours game time but Eternal Darkness ducks and swerves and strikes back boasting a lifespan of 40-60 hours. Resident evil, stunned from the shot goes for another this time with new ideas, knifes in the eyes, fast moving zombies and having to set them alight or they’ll come back to life. Resident Evil makes several jabs with this but Eternal Darkness throws the Sanity meter, which can make people question what’s real in a game and what isn’t. And this looks like the killer blow to Resident Evil who falls to the floor. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
That’s it, Nintendo’s own survival, Psychological horror brings down Resident Evil in the cubed arena in our preview match, but what about the big fight later this year, will we see a similar occurrence? Or will Resident Evil pull some more tricks on the unsuspecting new comer?
