fyi - libwww, among other things, allows you to create a http client in Perl. In the script you describe the client is likely to look up the given url to see if it gets a valid http response as opposed to a 40?/50?. Success validates the link.

No it is not for checking your scripts.

The script I am working with automates link exchanges with other sites. So when someone adds their link to my site through this script, their link is queue awaiting my approval. They will receive an automated email, which contains the code for linking to my site. When I go into the admin area of the script I can approve or reject links on the basis that the site requesting a link have installed my link code. If libwww-perl is installed, the script can do this automatically, if not you must check all links yourself.

If you mean automaticly checking the script. Freeola don't support this, as I asked them earlier.

Not 100% sure, but a link exchange script I am working with needs it to automate the checkng of return links. If it is not installed you have to check all your return links by hand.
