I was thinking of buying a hockey game, and I wanted to know which of these two was the best. Could people put forward what they like and dont like about each game.
Just rent both games and see which you prefer.

i'd go for NHL 2002, loads of people say its great.
Although I haven't play hitz I have got NHL 2002 and it's great!! I would strongly recommend you get it. :) Have fun
I have also got NHL 2002 and it's a great game i don't know about Hitz but i have heard it's not really about Hockey and more about beating the other team up.
If you want a realistic game then go for NHL 2002 - Im thinking of getting NHL Hitz 20-02 for GC! It looks pretty good but doesnt take itself too seriously!
NHL 2002 is the best sports game on the PS2 period. ONly Pro Evo Soccer is as as good as this game. THe gameplay is great, the animation is superb, music is fantastic (I downloaded 3 songs on my PC after hearing some of the music on that game).
You can unlock new celebrations and boost your players abilities bu buying packs of special NHL cards. There are loads of options and the usualy stuff. Definetely go for NHL 2002-you wont be disappointed

I have to agree, NHL 2002 is a great game. The only problem is the fact that EA release a sequal to all of their games annualy. I posted a review of NHL 2002 a couple of months ago and it contains all of the information on the game.
