With 'Max Payne' being one of my favourite all time games I quickly slapped myself across the cheeks and continued through the game.
Some games are hyped so much that by the time we have recieved them we expect it to talk, cook and breath but at the end of the day it is a disc that will keep us entertained for a couple of weeks, TOPS! Games come so quickly but they also dissappear in the same amount of time, games are 'Here Today and Gone tomorrow' inplce for another game to replace it. The time and effort which has gone into the game we are playing seems like we by-pass the sweat and tears which went into bringing us the maximum amount of entertainment in the short time they can.
I don't know about you but I have noticed since getting my 'X-BOX' console that this is being reversed, ever so slightly but still it is changing. You are probably sat there thinking " What is this lad on about " and yo could with good reason but if you turn everything off in your room and listen to what I am saying you too will feel the same. Games are now becoming far greater than we first ever imagined and recently games are taking longer to complete whilst still delivering the same amount of pleasure as a game that would take 5 hours to complete. This in short means that one day we will run out of ideas and get bored of what we do, we might not think that now but things are always 'Here Today and Gone Tomorrow'.
Can you imagine yourself ever getting bored of 'Bullet Time' in 'Max Payne' or scoring for 'England' on your latest football game but it will wear thin and that is when it will hit you and sometimes very hard. I got this way about 'Sony' and the 'PS2' and I have done something about this and with good reason. I thought I would stay loyal to Sony and keep up with supporting them on every console they bring out but I just simply got bored of games coming and going so quickly and dissappointingly, thankfully the 'X-BOX' has changed all this around and I am now enjoying playing games more than I have ever before.
It is good to see companies such as 'Microsoft', 'Codemasters', 'Rockstar' (e.t.c) listening to what we say and delivering to us the next best thing. I seem to get even more pleasure out of buying games today than I did 6 months a go, this shows how fast it is moving and it most definatley does not show any signs of slowing down or stopping what so ever!
Before playing games for a day was enough and then I would move on but I now am more commited to playing and finishing games. This could be to do with getting older but I think I owe it to games taking longer to finish and still giving me %100 satisfaction and I thank people for this.
I do not know if you feel the same way or not but games do not pass over me any more, they have bigger impacts both graphically and mentally than ever before, this is expected but I feel that it is moving faster than it was anticipated when these 'Next-Generation' consoles were is the production stages.
I thank 'Microsoft' more than any other company as they have finally given me a solid reason to continue and enjoy gaming more than I have in the past.
Does anyone else feel the same way as me? Do you feel that games are finally in flight? Or do you think that I am a crazy person for suggesting such a bizarre topic to discuss? Please tell me how you feel becuase I do not want to be wearing a straight jacket 6 months down the line!
Thankyou for reading.
Games such as Max Payne (which I've just completed) are quality, and over the past few weeks/months almost every game I've played has been very good.
Compare this to a year or so ago and I can really notice a change in the quality of the graphics, gameplay, sound, music, story, etc in many games available.
I often hear people complaining about modern games saying things like "the gameplay of today's games are not as good as in the Snes/Megadrive days", and up until recently they may have had a point.
But recently games have stepped up a notch in playability, and things can only get better.
I look forward to the future with great anticipation, and especially the future of Xbox software.
