For years, the Muslims and Jews have been fighting in the East over their 'Promised Land'. Why fight? It is written in their holy books that God gave it to both of them. To understand why, we need to know the story of the first Muslims and Jews:
About 4000 years ago, there was a man called Abraham (or Ibrahim). Now, Abraham was the head of a Polytheistic tribe. This means that him and his people worshipped more than one God just like the Romans or Ancient Egyptians. One day, Abraham went searching for a new God and found one. But, there was a catch. They must give up all their other Gods and only worship him. So, they do. The other (rather sneaky) part of the agreement was that in return for circumcising their ancestors (marking the boys tribe by cutting the foreskin off of their you-know-whats — ouch!) he would make sure that the land (now known as 'Israel') would belong to their ancestors for ever.
Several years later, he realised that him and his wife were staring to get old and needed to have a baby boy to continue the tribe before it was too late for Mrs. Abraham to give birth. So, they tried for a baby. Guess what; it didn’t work so what did they do? Well in those days, if you had a slave, they were considered your own possession. So, Abraham’s wife let him try to have a baby with her slave. It worked. As this boy grew up, he was told how he would be the head of the tribe.

A few more years later, and Abraham and his wife had another go at having a baby and got one - a baby boy. Now they were faced with a problem: Does the real son take over of does the older boy take over? Eventually, they decide that the servant girl and her son should go away and join a new tribe and never come back. Not very nice is it! So, reluctantly they do. They call this new tribe the ‘Muslims’ and Abraham's lot move on to become the Jews.
So, now you see how they are all in the same family! So, the suicide bombers and so on are killing their own family! Why fight when they can live together. Why do we humans always use God as an excuse to fight? (September 11th, for example.) Can’t the Israelis and the Palestinians live together in Israel? Even if they live away from each other - there will still be peace! Why kill each other; it's like going in and killing their own brothers and sisters!

I don't know. If one of the israli or palistinian leaders read my post, they might be able to make peace!
Surprised no-one's commented yet, it's an excellent post. I knew the story too- the slave girl was Sarah and her boy Ismael, and that was where Judaism/Christianity broke away from Islam. But then again, you can argue that we are all God's children and should treat each other as such. Though not religious myself, I like it as a concept when it works. The Middle East crisis is so depressing, almost apocalyptic in its context. My fear is that a so-called 'rogue' state is going to go crazy, or be taken over by someone crazy, and launch a nuke. And that is the most fatalistic scenario because there is no comeback to a nuclear bomb, everything is destroyed. Why is mankind so hellbent on destroying itself and everything around it?
