Shaolin Soccer!
Football meets mad kung-fu!
And it's BRILLIANT!!!
It's just soooo funny!
It's a mad Japanese film as I guess you could probably guess.
What happens is that at the start of the film this great footballer called "Golden Leg" misses a really important goal and then the crowd mob the pitch and he gets his leg broken. Now years later he's a cripple (well hobbles round on his bad leg) and he's a football coach. Well he gets fired and so walks off. He's walking down the street and he looks up to see some football on a TV. He hears this guy behind him say "That's not how you kick" (oh this guy is sat doing the splits between two bags of garbage). Then the two of them get talking...... yadda yadda.
Anyways this guy who was doing the splits is a guy who knows Shaolin Kung-Fu. Him and this coach end up wanting to form a soccer team so they can enter the championship. So the Kung-Fu guy goes round and rounds up all his brothers. They use to all be good at kung-fu to, but they've all got normal jobs now so they've forgotten all the knew. Anyways, he gets them all to join his team and then go train for a bit. Then they have this practise match with this other team. This other team then just starts to beat the c**p out of them, and "Shaolin Team" and just left all over the pitch in pain. Then one of the shaolin team gets really humiliated, by wanting to surrender and one of the other team makes him put his pants on his head. Well just after this all the Shaolin Team get all the skills back and then start doing crazy stuff.
The rest of the film is pretty much about the team entering the championship and then playing a bunch of matches. It's this part when the special effects come into place REALLY well. Crazy stuff happens during these matches, like people being able to jump really high into the air and pulling off some wicked kicks. There's some great parts where when the ball gets kicked really hard, it turns into a flaming ball like in NBA Jam. Also when they come up against a really good team they start having to hit the ball even harder. This is when some even cooler effects come in. Like when the ball is kicked really hard as it flys down the pitch it rips up the earth as it goes.
This is just such a cool film, and I advise ALL of you to watch it! You'll probably have to get it on import, but it's well worth it!
:)
> It seems incredibly cheap! Did you have to pay import duty as well?
You can usually avoid import duty on small purchases under £50 although sometimes they are stingy at customs (I think the lower limit is about £20 but most of my packages from amazon come through ok)

Near the bottom of that page.

Sounds great kinda like fong su yuk with jet li he does this race, and when he runs his pony tail goes stright, stuff like that in the old kung fu films rule.
