I personally think its a good thing but I can see why people are panicking. whats everyone views on the situation?

A drop so quickly in price really shows how crap the X-Box must be doing, I may be tempted though when I see some news of Shenmue.
It's a double-edged sword. People will either think "Yey, goody, it's a sensible price, let's get one", or "Oh, price drop, must be doing crap then, let's get a PS2". It can only increase Xbox's overall sales, but how much or even if it's enough only time can tell.

I think its a good move by Microsoft. Its no doubt going to worry Sony and it certainly won't do the Gamecube's launch any favours.

Well, it can't really, unless they drop it by 5p or something.
Of course that isn't likely, so nothing can make a price drop bad.
