So, FOX and that big money grabbing guy (Lucas) have finally caved in and are giving us the Original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. And when I say ´original´I mean in a Han-shoots-first,no Hayden as Darth, no new effects style. That´s right, the Star Wars episodes 4-6 as they were originally presented in the cinema.

Of course, now we´ve all gone and bought the 4 disc box set or the 3 disc box set, it means weighing up whether it´s worth getting this, but then it´s been a long time coming...

Next up is the (so far, only rumoured) Superman box set. Yes, hold on buying that Superman Returns DVD or the nice box set of the older 4 films, because there´s a mega giant box set on its way. Said to contain more deleted scenes, including more Brando, all the films (and yes, that does mean Supergirl as well) and a ton of new materials, plus hopefully a decent sound and picture makeover for Superman II and III (I don´t think anyone´s worried about IV!) and if we´re really lucky, they´ll give us interviews and making of´s for the other films too, not just the first one!

Depends how much the Star Wars set retails at really. I always enjoyed the 'originals' and when the VHS boxset came out about ten years back I had it bought for me. That said, I haven't watched it much since I extended my DVD collection. It might rekindle my interests if I bought it on DVD but the price is likely to be pretty epic too, so unless I can pick it up on the cheap it's a no-no. I bought Episode 3 for almost nothing and enjoyed it with the added features. The only Star Wars film I don't own is actually Attack of the Clones, but that was just preparing for Revenge of the Sith, in my mind, and I didn't enjoy it so I don't think I'll ever be buying it.

As far as I know, I've only ever seen parts of one Superman film and didn't find it very good. I watched the series that used to be on, 'New Adventures of Superman', which they've just started airing again (new series I think). Never really enjoyed Superman though, don't like the idea of him or how no-one can understand that it's Clarke Kent in the clothes. A Superman four film boxset is likely to be very expensive if it's got all the 'remastered' qualities.

I love boxsets. Doubt I'll be getting the starwars one seen as I already have the special edition and the superduper special edition where Boba fett is australian. Besides Im too young to remember this "Han shoots first" thing. Its nice to know it'll be available though.

As for Superman. I think most of the films were pants. I dont mind buying boxsets like The Alien boxset where 3/4 films are good, but when most are no good Id rather not waste my money.

But that is of course my personal oppinion. I happen to know someone who cant wait for the superman set because he loves the superman films.
