United date controversy

The Premier League are reviewing the date for Arsenal's potentially decisive trip to play Manchester United, scheduled for Wednesday, May 8.
The Gunners' meeting with United at Old Trafford was originally set for Saturday, April 13 but had to be postponed because of Arsenal's involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Two new dates were then provisionally agreed - Sunday, May 5 if Arsenal's cup campaign ended at the last-four stage or three days later if they reached the final in Cardiff on Saturday, May 4.

After the Middlesbrough win on Sunday the second option was taken up, but now it appears Liverpool have objected to the game being played that evening.

Gerard Houllier's side play Blackburn Rovers on May 5 and reportedly want that game switched to the same night as the United-Arsenal game because United and Arsenal might find themselves in a position where a draw would be enough to see them finishing above Liverpool in the table.

Hints they might collude have not gone down well at Old Trafford and United have now added fuel to the fire by asking for the Arsenal game to be brought forward 24 hours, giving them an extra day to prepare for the Champions League final - should they reach it.

Arsenal object to that switch because it would give them a day less to recover from the FA Cup final the previous Saturday.

No decision has yet been reached by the Premier League and the original dates for the two games still stand.

It's yet another case of success being punished by the FA. When will we wise up, and reduce the size of the Premier League?

Of course - which is why the dates should stay as already previously arranged.

Any shift will show favouritism to Liverpool or Man U.

It certainly can't be said that the current situation deliberately favours Arsenal, as the possible dates were announced before it was known that Arsenal would progress to the FA Cup Final.

in liverpool and manchester united's eyes they want arsenal as tired as possible if any of them want a chance for the title.

P.S woking will only need to win 2 of their last 3 to stay in the conference.
