Frank Rising carries on from the end of Dead Rising 4, having you play as a zombie version of Frank West. This sounds like a hell of an idea and it's definitely an attention grabber at first, as you roam in with the zombie hord and sink your teeth into some human prey. But shortly after, you're suddenly no longer able to blend in with the zombies and you're left being anathema to both the humans and zombies. In essence, you're playing Dead Rising 4, with a different skin.
You do have some reasonably entertaining abilities, such as the ability to spit acid, devour people to gain energy and more. But the game totally avoids any ethical issues whatsoever. The people you eat are all conveniently "bad guys" with none of the good survivors around. Frank is also utterly unperturbed by eating people, and suffers no after effects due to his inhuman acts.
The quests too are basically tedious fetch quests, and there are no actual cutscenes apart from one at the end and one at the beginning of the DLC. To add insult to injury, this is essentially the "Overtime" mode that was available in all previous games. Furthermore, there's no actual new locations, or items, or characters. This is a real zero effort piece of content.
Boring, unnecessary and overpriced, Frank Rising is an example of how not to do DLC. It's insulting to people who purchased the full game since they've been bilked of an actual ending, and Capcom should be ashamed. It's not entertaining for more than five minutes, the quests are dull as ditchwater and there's absolutely no reason to put money down for this crash grab.
