I walk through streets and see the same old men
Who've counted down their dominoes and lost track again
They play the music that reminds them of their past
Of being young and unafraid that time went so fast
Passing on the stories to the young and the blind
Telling us to enjoy it whilst you have your mind
And you have the chance to walk a mile
The chance to make somebody smile

You'll find me pleading with the Gods tonight
Where the angels meet and the devils might
Everyone's beating to a tune
That I won't recognise or assume
And I will lie in shame again
Of writing with my only pen
That I cannot prise apart
The feeling that I want to start

I try and take on board my only friends
Hope I'll be with them till the end
But they see someone that isn't there
Unless the others stop and stare
And with the feeling comes regret
And all remorse that I forget
I'm just fearing all the pain
That I remember just the same

You'll find me pleading with the Gods tonight
Where the angels meet and the devils might
And I'll be begging on the floor
To give me reason, to give me more
Wonder if I'll be forgotten
Wishing I could hit the bottom
All because I cannot find
My heart inside my open mind

Look to my sweetheart fast asleep
And wonder if she's mine to keep
I pray that I can be the guy
She fell in love with if I try
Try to see us as a pair
As she sleeps play with her hair
Pray tomorrow the Gods prefer
To play with dice instead of her

You'll find me pleading with the Gods tonight
Where the angels meet and the devils might
And I'll be screaming clawing at the wall
Until this passes and the pictures fall
They remind me of the fear I know
Close my eyes and they will show

You'll find me pleading with the Gods tonight
Where the devils laugh and the angels fight
And I'll be taking up the task
Of tearing off this petty mask
When I'm old enough I'll tell the tale
To all that'll hear a man so frail
There is nothing more; nothing above
Giving your heart to the ones you love
