Over the last few weeks my Samsung TV has started to have problems with the sound cutting out.
To start with I thought it was a problem with the TV, I was pleased to find I've still got a couple of years warranty left with John Lewis, but as the problem is intermittent it could be one of those hard to fix things!
But after a while I noticed the problem was only when watching HD channels (mostly BBC1 and ITV1) and changing channels (flip up/down) fixes the problem.
Searching around it seems to be a problem for others as well, depending on which TV you have - only one in my house seems affected - Samsung UE46ES6710.
It looks like it's mostly affecting people with Samsung or Toshiba TVs.
The BBC are aware of the problem and are asking people to report it - by telephone?!
So don't go throwing out your TV just yet as it might not be at fault!

It looks like this problem has been resolved - BBC update.
I haven't seen (heard!) the problem lately so they might be right...

Samsung components are used in many other makes of equipment these days so this issue could possibly effect TV's from manufacturers other than those mentioned.
BTW I've not noticed any issues of this kind with Freeview HD channels on my Panasonic set so far although I've no idea if it's certain transmitters that have been experiencing this problem or if it's a nationwide issue?

Nice 'heads up ' Hmmm but could it also be this...at800.tv We had a postcard about it the other week and 'sound' was one of the problems mentioned.
