After a little difficulty setting up Thunderbird as my email client with my newly acquired Freeola email service. The various bits of help I found on the Freeola site are a bit out of date with respect to Thunderbird 38.4.0.

If I check my server settings on Thunderbird under Authentification method it says "Password, transmitted insecurely" should I be concerned about this?

Are you using TLS or are you just saying you use Thunderbird?

Good to hear DL.
Perhaps the guides need a little updating!

Slightly ... some of the early images in the guide are dated but content is still relevant.

If you connect on the Freeola.net domain you should be able to use TLS to connect. You may have to accept a 1 time security warning but after that login should be secure.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I also recently installed Thunderbird and saw the security warning you mention (it's also shown in Freeola's guide).

Hopefully Freeola have plans on introducing encryption in the future as that's the way the world is going.
Apart from the UK Gov. who want to introduce a backdoor to everyone's encrypted communications!
