heard this from gamespot.com
wreckless is one of the technically most impressive games on the xbox...
gameplay not as spectacular as graphix though...
what i will be interested to see is whether the ps2 can exactly replicate the xbox version technically

I'm hoping the developers will add a little depth to the PS2 version, but I think I'm hoping for too much.

It's like one or two of GTA3's missions, played over and over and over and over again.

it's not really like GTA 3 at all...
just a drive around bashing things...or whatever the mission wants you to do.
meant to be really short too

Ive only seen video of Wreckless for X-Box - It looks amazing but the gameplay from what I can tell seems rather repetitive. I cant believe they were comparing this with GTA3 at some point.

I think it will be a game I enjoy, even if it doesn't play as good as it looks. I think the main problem is going to be converting the graphics, It would probably be better if the developers started the game engine afresh for the PS2 version so we don't suffer from some half arsed port. Max Payne is a clear example.

i actually have it (got it from an auction for 25 quid -new)...and it's not terrible but it can be highly frustrating....the handling isn't really that great...but as i said at the start of the topic i just want to see whether the ps2 can replicate it technically

From all the reviews that I have read of the game, it has not lived up to the initial hype (What a surprise !). I think there are plenty of other driving and driving based games either out or coming out that are better then Wreckless.

Wreckless is a game I think we could do without.

I was torn between it and Munch's Oddysee for my Xbox, so I asked in Game if I could try both, at which point they directed me to the demo pod, which had both on the demo disc.

Wreckless looks fantastic - but gameplay is severely lacking.

Think of the Vigilante missions in GTA3, where you have to repeatedly ram your target to destroy them within a time limit. And that's pretty much all that Wreckless is, but not as good. You only really collide with walls and other cars (which unlike GTA3 disappear while you're actually looking at them). Some scenery you can demolish (railings etc.) while others you just pass straight through; I'm sorry, but seeing your DeLorean pass through a streetlamp is a little bit poor!

This was only the demo, though. I fully expect another salivating Xbox owner to tell me how wrong I am!

Anyway, I bought Munch's Oddysee and haven't looked back.

I have heard that Wreckless isn't actually that good compared to the other XBOX games and not up to the standard but you never know they could make it better for the PS2.

A good point, but if history is anything to go by, conversions tend to be less good than the original as they are often lazy and rushed. Start from scratch games have been the true success stories on PS2.
