Industry watchdogs have labelled the latest Gamecube pad as being highly dangerous.

The Wavebird looked set to be a success, with it's radio technology doing away with the need for wires, and unlike infa red technology doesn't need to be continually pointed at the reciever. Whilst this was smiled upon, some of the consoles other features have not been.

Because the Wavebird operates only on a one way frequency, messages cannot be sent back to the Wavebird controller, and as such, it doesn't have a rumble feature like the new pads. It appears that in trying to compensate for this, Nintendo have made other changes which according to the industry watchdog makes it a danger to gamers.

Apparently small razor blades and pins are hidden within the sontroller, down the sides of the buttons, and when they are fully pushed down, the razor blades and pins stick out, and into the gamers fingers.

A spokesperson for Nintendo stated that the sharp object would remain; "As the buttons are analogue, and as such would not need to be pushed the full distance unless maximum effort was required from the game character, and if you wish for the character to make this effort, you to must make a sacrifice."

On standard pads this leads to the rumble feature, which as I previously said, couldn't be implemented with the Wavebird.

So, how do you feel about this? Is getting the most froma game worth this bloodshed? Will you still buy a Wavebird, or will you decide to save your money, and fingers and continue to use an old fashione dstyle pad, with wires littering your floor?

Once again Nintendo have pushed out the boat, will it catch on? One thing's for certain, there will be an Xbox and Playstation 2 variant on the market within weeks.

MY god! How could Nintnedo do this to us? They're supposed to be a FAMILY company. How could they implement something where children could be hurt?

This is ridiculous!

We must stop these pads from going on sale. I'll start a petition to try and stop SR from stocking them.

Something must be done!
