I agree, that seems is pointless, so you just don't buy it! I'm sure Sony won't sell many of them, but I'm also sure that *some* people will buy it!
On the other hand, I do have the VERTICAL stand on order, as that is how my PS2 will be situated, and I think the extra stability will be worthwhile.
You could also say that the i-Mac style controllers etc. available for all machines are equal rip-offs.
My point was not to put down other manufacturers, but merely to point out that Sony are not the only culprits, as Tigerblade was (or seemed to be) insinuating.
Right, i feel a lot better now !!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Does the nice little purple stand come with the PS2, or is it an add-on ?
Or can you say: Offical Sony Horizontal Stand!
I still can't get over it.
Can you say "N64 rumble pack" or "N64 hi-res video RAM expansion pack", or - shock, horror - "Dreamcast Official Vibration pack"???
According to the Dreamcast/DVD pack in the SR catalogue, it is also missing a memory card and second conroller.
It also seems, according to the same catalogue, that the Joytech 4Mb memory card for Dreamcast has 4 time the memory of Sega's standard VMS. So let's see... a PS2 memory card at 8Mb for around £25, or an official 1Mb Sega VMS at £19.99. Hmm...
Don't try to make out that Sony are the only company that do such things!
However, no-one yet knows the exact, official contents of the UK package, so don't be too disheartened yet!
If I recall correctly, the original PlayStation packs didn't include a memory card, and a number of people were pretty narked about it. Hopefully Sony will have learned from that, and one will be included. After all, with the scale of some of the launch titles, it'll be almost as much of a necessity as a controller!
