I’ve been reading everyone’s views on how everyone feels that the Forums were going too far up in popularity and quantity but down in quality. I understand why these forums are here and what purpose they serve so maybe the increased popularity is good for the Special Reserve Network by basically getting pretty good advertising for practically free.

But I think that the fact that so many Notables and respected Regulars are leaving because of the problems that are being brought up is harmful to the forums rather than anything else and SR will be losing respect and loyal customers, this isn’t their fault but instead because of the he influx of Newbies and coming in every day and posting absolutely useless topics which simply clog up the forums and kill the good topics that are actually about entertainment.

Er-No, one of the few Notables left, mentioned something about a forum for people who were here in the ‘old days’ and I thought about this, that idea could be expanded into having a locked forums only for people who have been around for over 450 days and Notables. Another way people could enter this forums is by ‘voted’ into it by the members with a new member of the forum every month or so. This would definitely bring up the quality of the forums since people will have to impress the SR staff and the members of this Exclusive forum.

Another thing that can be fixed is the Newbie-Regular system. These days Newbies turn into Regulars when they write a certain number of words or in most cases spam for 10,000 words and 300 posts. Why don’t we have a system where a new batch of Newbies turn into Regulars every week or so, where there is a sort of election like the notable election on a smaller scale and the nominees are hand picked by the staff? This would stop.

There was also a long conversation between some of us and Grix about having to be a member of SR to join the forums. Wouldn’t that be better for all of us? Firstly we’d lose a lot of spammers who wouldn’t be bothered to pay to spam and SR would get some money back to pay for the GADs and maybe could we have an extra CAM (Console a Month) prize? I know most of us will loose a lot of good friends through people not being able to pay for the forums but then again you can open another forum for non-members who haven’t paid. Get what I mean?

Anyway I know this post will not be taken as seriously as it would be if it was written by a notable or someone who’s been here for longer but although I have only been here for only 98 days I can also see signs of the forums generally going down.

Thanks for reading,

How would they lose a lot of potential customers if the forums were 'locked' and only to members?

i agree on all the points in there except the last one about being a member to join the forums, that is a bad idea because

A) i am not a member ;)

and

B) they would lose alot of potential customers that way.

Though just a bitter, bitter, newbie, I would welcome some form of elitist hierarchy because I think I'd do alright out of it in time, since I'd like to think of myself as someone that has something worthwhile to say, and not just moronic spam. If there's a problem, and it seems that there is, steps should be taken. The only newbies that will have a problem with it are the morons who can't splel (sic) anything and talk cr@p. It seems I just missed out on the latest cusp of SR forum revolution, but I'd be interested to know how different things used to be. Has the newbie/regular/notable thing always been here?
