Patrick Vieira insists he'd rather spur Arsenal to European success and "enter the history" of the club than switch to one of Europe's top teams.
The France midfielder heads Real Madrid's list of transfer targets and has also been linked with a move to Juventus and Barcelona.
"If we find the right balance this club is going to explode," the 25-year-old said. "I would have more pleasure winning the European Cup with Arsenal than with, say, Juventus who have won everything.
"What can I change at a club like Juve? Nothing. At Arsenal there is everything to change, everything to win. In fact, I want to enter the history of this club."
Arsenal remain on course to win the Premiership and are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, but Vieira's future at the club remains uncertain.
"I want my future to be fixed before the World Cup. The ball is in the directors' court," he insisted. "If the club want me to stay, I will stay."
Wether Vieira statys or not will depend on how well Arsenal finnish this season.
If they win the league, and that only, then it'll be quite boring for Vieira after a while, after he realises that they've already won that back in '98 - and he may feel that Arsenal have nothing more to offer him, except maybe more money!
But if they win the Champions' League, even on it's own it should be enough to tempt him to stay for a while longer, at least untill the end of next season!
This would prove to him that Arsenal DO have other, stronger and more greater ambitions than just in England - so he'd stay.
And if they MIRACULLOUSSLEY go home with nothing, then i'm sure he'll leave - why would he want to be at a club with nothing!??
And performaces in the World Cup may also make him re-think the path he chooses.

Juve chief says Paddy's going nowhere
Juve vice-president Roberto Bettega has ruled out a big-money summer swoop for Patrick Vieira, who he believes is planning to stay at Highbury.
The Serie A giants, along with La Liga's Real Madrid, are the two clubs that have been most strongly linked with a bid for the France midfielder.
But in recent weeks it has been widely reported that the Arsenal stand-in captain has begun talks with the Highbury hierarchy over a new deal to keep him beyond the two years left on his contract.
Bettega has ruled out a transfer for the 25-year-old, who he believes will not be moving anywhere in the foreseeable future.
He said: "I believe that Vieira said he wouldn't come to Juve because he'd rather remain as a king in England than one of the crowd at Juve.
"Last summer we made some pretty important investments because many top-notch players like Gigi Buffon, Pavel Nedved and Lilian Thuram became available on the market.
"This year we are planing to do mostly minor adjustments to improve the team, with either young talents or veteran players coming in."
Bettega added that Holland midfielder Edgar Davids is unlikely to leave the Stadio Delle Alpi this summer, despite reports he is unhappy and could even be joining The Gunners.
"I can't foresee any important players leaving. I don't think that Edgar Davids will go," the Juve supremo said.
He's possibly the best midfielder in the world - still young and immensely talented. If he makes up his mind to stay beyond his current contract (Arsenal are currently coming up with anextension deal for him), then they should not sell him at any price.
