Why don't we just do whatever the Yanks did?

And if we bought from them, why did they sell us unsafe versions in the first place?

Field Radios: As uncovered in operation desrt storm, the field radios used by our troops, not updated since just after 1920, proved faulty, they were not replaced until Afghanistan popped up

Standard Rifles: Also found our in desert Storm, the rifles were prone to jamming in hot or sandy cirumstances. These two have only just been replaced.

Now our choppers too?

Our pilots and Special forces may be the best in the world, but our standard army and its resources leave a lot to be desired. The MOD has a lower budget than ever, even though it has arisen that they need a larger one, just to stay in the top 20 ranking of armies.

NHS in ruins, MOD working on peanuts, I'm beginning to wonder what Mr. blair does with our money.....

Ah, so it does - didn't see that originally. But still, we obviously bought plans etc. which were faulty. Would have been nice for them to at least mention it, as they had the same problem!

We probably can't just fix them because it costs money. Over the years the Ministry Of Defence has been told by successive governments that it doesn't actualy need much money.....when clearly it does in these troubled times.

We have a different version so that could be why there will be a difficulty in fixing this, but the Americans didn't sell them to us, we bought the license to build them as the news report states. As it is America shares very little of its military technology and alongside Israel we're one of very few countries able to access what is unquestionably some of the finest weapons tech on the planet.
