> Yes but how much protection is there at yahoo?
In a nutshell there is none, its really the luck of the draw as to whether you get a runner or a bummer. Thats why i exercise caution whilst trading on yahoo.

Yes but i find Ebays popularity is also it achilles heel, sometimes items go for far more than they can be got elsewhere, there is often a better price, and another selection to be had at yahoo.

I think there isnt as much scope for fraud as say on yahoo auctions, which iam much more cautious on.

I absolutely adore ebay, I mainly buy computer games and cds which it is terrific for. Just today in fact I bought a near-£200 Minolta APS camera for £51 and a fiver for P+P! However, I had my first bad ebay experience on the weekend. I was scouring the PS2 ads, and this unbelievable bundle came on: PS2, memory card, scart lead, 2 controllers, MGS2, Tony Hawks, GTA3 and Pro Evolution Soccer. Just what I was after. The reserve was £230 or Buy it now for £250. I took the latter, with delivery at £5. The seller was rated at 19, not three figures, but nonetheless absolutely fine. It had only been on sale for about 5 hours. However, he reneged on the deal, saying that he had lent it to a guy at work with a view to buying and now it was broken. Utter bull---. Clearly someone had offered him more money outside of ebay and he wouldn't sell it me. So I warned him I'd have to post negative feedback, he didn't care, so I did. But at least I wasn't out of pocket for it.
What used to strike me as remarkable is that ebay is trustworthy, even though it relies on honest users and has no intermediate. But somehow, it works. I just hope that it isn't corrupted (the US one still hasn't, even though much larger) because the opportunities are there. Trust in your fellow man, and he will trust in you.
