The first tartan day extravaganza has been marked a huge success as 10,000 pipers piped themselves into the guiness records after beating the 8000 piper record set in edinburgh during the millenium celebrations. Americans rejoiced at the sound of the billowing pipes and made comments such as "they [scottish people]are always there when you need them, you can always rely on them [scots]". Sean connery and our first minister Jack mcconnel were in attendece at the head of the parade.
