Why is Freeola trying to charge £12 for a transfer fee? never known a company to charge so much for renewals. I need to move away from this company asap but there is a question on £12 for every domain I have.

The renewal prices seem pretty fair to me. I've just checked some other providers and they compare well - don't forget you can also get free unlimited hosting with Freeola!
You don't say what level of discount you are on but for me renewing a co.uk for an example is £10.07 for 2 years registration AND hosting. I'm happy with that.
Yes they do charge an admin fee for transferring out - but I guess you can't have everything.
