Stop plugging your topics/replies in other people's threads. All it does is make sure others don't check them out and annoy the person who made the thread, and others.

This combination seems to have issues in certain circumstances. It very neatly stops Java applets from working in the browser.
Running IE 11 as Administrator seems to work OK.
After some investigation it appears that this may be something to do with Onedrive. If you stop this being used via Group Policy then the applets may work again.
It may simply be that the loading of the Java was so slow before that it was simply timing-out and by turning the Onedrive off it released overheads and allowed it to run.
